My father is 78 years old and has been suffering from constipation for the last 2 years. He has also lost a lot of weight around 10 kgs in this time span. In the last couple of months he has been complaining that his abdominal muscles have torn due to bowel straining and now he says there is loss of muscle in his stomach area. Which is why when he lies down everything is fine but when he sits up and walks around he feels like he is carrying a weight in his stomach. After intake of food it becomes worse and he also gets bloating. We have done all possible tests - colonoscopy, CT scan, ultrasound sometime last year and everything was clear. The doctors gave a verdict of idiopathic constipation and left it at that. His blood work is fine, haemoglobin levels, cholestrol etc. He still suffers from constipation. His prostrate is enlarged but results are fine. What is the solution to his stomach muscle problem ? Is it lack of exercise, lack of protein ? He doesnt have a pot belly and has never had and had always been physically active and fairly slender.

Hi, History told by you favours irritable bowel syndrome ( IBS ). There are two alarming signs in your case : Firstly, loss of weight and that to10kg approx. Secondly, sensation of carrying a weight in stomach. Both of them do occurs in IBS. Hi, You told me that your father is having hallucinations(he sees what is not there actually),these are commonly seen due to hyperosmolar, hyperglycemic , nonketotic syndromes. The cause of hallucination is usually rapid rise in blood sugar.(the cause might be some exisiting infection in body). i went for my complete body checkup.every thing was fine except my liver,the sgot and sgpt,billirubin was fine but my ggtp was high about 121.even my sugar level H1Blc was 5.5 with very low medication . i am taking metformin 250 gms two times daily after meals.another problem i am facing is lack of sleep for which i am taking 1mg of alprax every day.but still i am not able to sleep.I have to mention that i am a successful businessmen with stressful life.please suggest something

Hi, Your raised ggt is simply because of alcohol,and should not be of a problem if your other tests are all fine and within normal range.Just try and reduce your alcohol. Hi, I am not sure,your doctor must have examined you so he can might be telling better,but i belive you should have complet liver tests including pt aptt and coagulation profile and billirubin levels and also repeat the tests you already have. Although yellow eyes can also be due to mddy sclera,some people have muddy sclera. Hi, I am Satish Aggarwal (58 years old). I have been suffering from Diabetes since last 5 years. I was taking Tribet-2 (Abbott) till last month (one tablet in morning and one in evening). My sugar levels were around 170 (in random) while taking it. Last month I read in newspapers about side effect of Tribet-2 and my doctor advised me to switch to Diamicron XR MEX 500 (2 tablets in morning). While taking it my sugar levels have been around 240 (in random). Now I have just heard that there is some clarification from Tribet-2 that it is safe. Is there any effects on child if thyronorm 75 mcg is being taken by a breast feeding women? My friend is a mother of 2yr old baby and she breast feeds her child regularly.Recently ,doctor diagnosed her with diffuse goitre as TSH levels are 22, T3 and T4 are normal. and suggested Thyronorm 75.
