Before going for skipping make sure you are not over weight .if you have weight proportionate to your height then you can start skipping maintaining the posture. If overweight then start with quadriceps exercise ,walking, weight reduction,diet modifications etc.

you can start about 10 skipping counts, then gradually increase to adapt to skipping if not done since a few years.
