HELLO DR. My SGOT level is 80, SGPT is 124, Bilirubin is 0.9mg/dl, Cholesterol is 193 and Triglycerides s 508. I AM A REGULAR DRINKER (180ml) AND TAKES FISH/ CHICKEN 4 TO 5 TIMES A WEEK. PLEASE SUGGEST.

Hello, I see that you are worried regarding your cholesterol levels and your sgot levels. To start up I would like to tell you that amongst the common causes of raised sgot level is fatty liver commonly seen in alcoholics and people who are obese or overweight. Hi, Most probably you are suffering from fatty liver changes. Discontinuing drinking alcohol or cutting way back potentially can allow your liver to return to normal but it will take atleast 4 weeks. Hi, When you started having amalog (probably amlodipine),I suppose,and till now you have not shown any kind of improvement ,which means higher doses should also be started. i went for my complete body checkup.every thing was fine except my liver,the sgot and sgpt,billirubin was fine but my ggtp was high about 121.even my sugar level H1Blc was 5.5 with very low medication . i am taking metformin 250 gms two times daily after meals.another problem i am facing is lack of sleep for which i am taking 1mg of alprax every day.but still i am not able to sleep.I have to mention that i am a successful businessmen with stressful life.please suggest something

Hi, Your raised ggt is simply because of alcohol,and should not be of a problem if your other tests are all fine and within normal range.Just try and reduce your alcohol. Hi, Usually the direct billirubin should also have been in the normal range,but if the total is within normal range then you don't need to worry. Do you have problems or color change in stool ? Do you have any kind of itching ? Do you have any pain in abdomen ? How are the other values in lft except for bilirubin ?
