HELLO DR I AM 40 YR OLD MAN AND MY SGOT IN 54.42 AND SGPT IS 29.15. MY CHOLESTROL IS 211(159 LDL AND 42 HDL). I AM A REGULAR DRINKER AND TAKES FISH/ CHICKEN 4 TO 5 TIMES A WEEK. HOW TO REDUCE CHOLESTROL AND SGOT, PLEASE SUGGEST.

i went for my complete body checkup.every thing was fine except my liver,the sgot and sgpt,billirubin was fine but my ggtp was high about 121.even my sugar level H1Blc was 5.5 with very low medication . i am taking metformin 250 gms two times daily after meals.another problem i am facing is lack of sleep for which i am taking 1mg of alprax every day.but still i am not able to sleep.I have to mention that i am a successful businessmen with stressful life.please suggest something

Hi, Your raised ggt is simply because of alcohol,and should not be of a problem if your other tests are all fine and within normal range.Just try and reduce your alcohol. Sleep deprivation is a big problem and i think all the steps must have already been taken by you but still let you know again. I have done ultrasound of abdomen and pelvis and the report i got is LIVER,GALL BLADDER, PANCREAS, SPLEEN and UNRIARY BLADDR is normal. But KIDNEY : Right kidney : 7032mm Left kidney : 7935mm Both kidneys are decreased in size. Renal parenchymal echo texture increased in bilateral kidneys. Cortical indentations noted in bilateral kidneys. No calculi or hydronephrosis in either kidney. PROSTATE :: Size : 373035mm (Volume-20 cc) Increased in size. Median lobe of prostate is enlarged. Can u tell me is it very serious now or in future ?

Hi, Yes the report shows that your kidney size is reduced significantly and you need to get many tests before i can make any comment although rest all other things mentioned in the ultrasound are normal. But you will have to get your urine report like urine routine and microcscopy,kidney function test,glomerular filtration rate. my bilirubin (total) is found 0.97 mg/dl, bilirubin direct is found 0.33 mg/dl, SGOT is found 41 iu/l, SGPT is found 80.9 iu/l, alkaline phosphatase is found 101 iu/l & albumin is found 4.2 gm/dl after going through a liver functioning test. I am very much worried about the SGPT count which came abnormal. i do not take regular alcohol, but i do take some medicines like norflox tz or ciprowin tz whenever i came across stomach upsets. Sir, please suggest me what should i do now and shall it be dangerous that the count came abnormal? please help.

Hi, I am not sure,your doctor must have examined you so he can might be telling better,but i belive you should have complet liver tests including pt aptt and coagulation profile and billirubin levels and also repeat the tests you already have. Although yellow eyes can also be due to mddy sclera,some people have muddy sclera. can I continue the use Mintop forte 5 % for my pattern baldness ? i have been using this since last 01 month & noticed the growth of bew hairs on my scalp . Hi, If you start using minoxidil(mintop) once then you can' stop it else it is of no use. If you are facing such symptoms like stomach gas,insomnia,increased bp and increased heart beatthen you should go complete medical check up.
