I have an itchy scalp, dandruff and experience pain in my hair roots. After meeting a skin doctor I have been using an overnight lotion twice a week, shampoo and multivitamin tablets prescribed by her since last ten days. Right now I have developed some swellings in the back of my head on the right side behind my ear on the hairline. It is extremely itchy around that area since last three days. This seems to be a recurring symptom and it appeared during summer season in the last two years also. Sometimes I get headaches that takes place on the right side of my face and head, and last for 24 hrs. I was diagnosed with cervical spondylosis two years ago. After my recent health checkup my thyroid is on the margin at 5.71. What should I do? Which doctor should I see?

Hello Doctor this is Emmanuel Nice to hear from you, actually my skin is not extremely very dark but compared to a 'White skin' it is, I'm not very pinkish, but I'm fairer than the other dark people. If I come under bright lights I look fair I don't know what medicine changed my skin colour as I'm not good at medicine. My toes, feet, neck, Hands and other private parts like me penis are also dark, I've tried the Vitamin C Calamine lotion Multani mitti allovera face wash drank water used sunscreens accordingly these only work to certain extent and I feel these are meant for people who are looking to improve their complexion and not to restore the original skin colour. I actually look like a South Asain. It took some time may be about a month my complexion became dark. Hi Emmanuel, Thank you for the photographs. The areas you mention - hands, feet, penis and scrotum are naturally darker than the rest of the body. The reasons for this are different. The penis and scrotum are darker because they have a very rich blood supply and this makes the skin darker. No treatment is required or indeed effective here. I have some internal puss formation on my inner thigh area at the junction with the testicle balls. This may have been due to bacteria due to V-shaped underwears. Hello Shaw, If your treatment is not helping you ask your doctor about switching to a Halobetasol or Clobetasol-Salicylic Acid ointment along with a Coal Tar ointment at night. Hello Mam, I am 25 and my inner tighs and vaginal area are very dark in color. I have consulted doctor about the dark color of inner tighs and she suggested me to use SPARKEL cream (hydroquinone, tretinoin and mometasone furote cream). Hi Faisal, You are having an irritant dermatitis to the Melas cream. You need to stop using it and see a dermatologist for prescription steroid creams. Till you can do so make sure you stay out of direct sunlight and apply a bland moisturizer like cetaphil cream every 3-4 hours.
