PAST HISTORY : My daughter Jessica in 2009 started with very tiny spots on her back and feet which rapidly spread on her front legs, feet, palms, writs, elbows, whole of scalp, around her eyes, portion of her chest, small patches on her left side of the stomach, few spots on her back, lips, ears. She is a very positive person. First medication was allopathy which we stopped immediately as the doctor said it is vitamin deficiency wherein we lost a lot of time, then we went to homeopathy which was not helping her at all, after almost two years later in 2011 we started allopathy once again, wherein there were folic acid tablets, syrup, then a tiny tablet given by the doctor at his clinic and many ointments were used on her. She was also undertaking UV light for almost a year. She is fed up of the medicines. Now she is on ayurvedic which is not helping much because we are not regular with it. Can you please help out as I really want my daughter to get completely healed.

Hello,
Have you tried UV light treatments, commonly known as PUVA and NBUVB?
Is her Vitiligo still spreading or is it now stable?
Patient asked followup Question: 11 years ago
It is spreading in some places and in some places the skin is getting back its colour

Then it will be classified as 'Unstable Vitiligo'. This requires a combination of oral immunosuppresants like minipulse steroids or azathioprine along with UV light therapy called PUVA or NBUVB. These UV light sessions are done 2-3 times a week for a few months and are available in most Government Hospitals Dermatology Deptts. After one year or so of treatment the patches that are left over can be treated surgically.
