Ofloxacin like any Fluroquinolones have serious adverse reactions like pheripheral neuropathy, tendon damage, hepatitis to name a few hence in Dental pain and other dental ailments it wil be prudent to visit a Dental Surgeon and go by the advise given to you. Ofloxacin is a second generation antibiotic given in mixed infections and drugs have limited role to play in Dentistry

visit your dentist let them decide

Hello,

Taking antibiotics alone would not be sufficient to eliminate the dental infection.
U would require to know the cause/source of infection n treat it to get permanent relief... Majoritarily dental infections r due to deep decayed teeth,An visit to dental clinic is necessary n to get an root canal done to avoid future complications...

Pls be prompt.

Hi there. Dental infections involve various strains of bacteria which need variable antibiotic cover. Kindly visit your nearest dentist for a definitive underlying treatment of the infection as dental infection needs treatment locally too beside the antibiotic coverage.

hi, going through your medical history and your recent state of dental infection, it is advisable that you should be evaluated thoroughly and should undergo a culture and antibiotic sensitivity test before being administered any combination of drugs,

Please consult your local Dentist before consuming any Medication. Self Medication may prove harmful.

I have had wisdom tooth issues for the last few years. For the second time this year I am experiencing a "locking" of the jaw. My two wisdom teeth are laying sideways instead of straight up, and they both have cracked and broken exposing the nerve. I can barely open my mouth more than an inch, can't fit a fork in there, can't yawn. It hurts. I do not have dental insurance and want to know if I go to the ER can they at least give me an antibiotic or something to alleviate the pain. It is the weekend, and Tuesday is Christmas so my primary care doctor is closed.

  Doctor's Answer

In my opinion,if the Dental abscess is palpable ie frank pus, then rather depending on various antibiotics it is better to simply puncture the abscess under local anaesthesia and remove the pus under anti-biotic cover for a day prior to removal and two days after. ...

A little over 3 weeks ago I went to the Dr for what he said was a really bad sinus infection. I was prescribed a 10 day course of antibiotics & I felt better. Well the last week Ive had a sore throat on the left side, an ear ache on the same side, a chesty cough I never got rid of and now bad breath. There are red streaks on the back of my throat which I assume are just from the stress of constantly coughing. I called the dr. & told him my symptoms and he seemed unalarmed and prescribed me another 10 day course of amoxicillian. My only concern is that its not a sinus infection because my sinuses aren't bothering me this time around - Im not even congested. Any ideas what it could be? Should I call the DR and make him actually see me or will the amox work? **Please no smart-alec comments about dental hygiene -- I brush 3 times a day & floss, so its not because i am not brushing**

About a year ago I had a serious dental problem. I had an apicectomy performed and the surgeon left a lot of leftover amalgam inside my jaw. To cut a long story short my body rejected the amalgam and it started to come out of my jaw in pieces. Before the dentist realised what the problem was he prescribed about 4 courses of antibiotics and this led to a very severe balanitis after the 4th course. It got treated succesfully with cream and fluconazol(150mg). Now It seems to return in a very mild form lasting a couple of days after I treat with cream every couple of months or so. Do I need to visit the doctor again or should I wait until it stops naturally? I had surgery to remove the amalgam from the jaw when they realised that that was causing the inflammation. My jaw is recovering very well.
