I am a mother of a young child aged 5years who is having a discomfort in one of his teeth and also a noticeable swelling on his gum and a small amount of yellow discharge occasionally from it. He also seems to have a couple of tooth decays. What can be done at this tender age, and what can I expect from the dental treatment.

Have gum pocket infection left lower side molar. Taking clyndamycin 300 mg. every eight hrs.. Tooth is healthy. Never had a filling. Have been on clyndamycin now for 10 days and it does not seem to be helping.

Hello i had my no 48 wisdom tooth removed on thursday morning and its been nearly 3 days now. What i wanted to know was i have noticed yesterday and today that the gum which had folded over the extraction site has receeded and left behind a thin white strand of tissue. is this a normal part of the healing process. I am not in any pain and have not smoked since the day of extraction (before). Also i know your advice will be to stop permanently but how long should i wait till i can smoke again

However I have never read any such thing and infact it is advisable to have diet which relaxes your throat( may be ice cream,or any cold fluid,and food which is simple and non spicy ) . My left wisdom tooth has been growing in side ways, but has not been able to come in fully. It started hurting about two days ago. I did not think anything of it and thought it was just growing in more. There was a flap of skin/gum covering part of the tooth. When I went to brush my teeth this morning, I noticed that part of it (underneath where the skin covered before) was now a blackish color. I got a sore throat and swollen lymph nodes only on the left side of my throat around the same time my tooth started hurting. Are these related? I have a dentist appointment in a week. Is there anything I can do to help it to make it better or ease the pain? It hurts to chew on that side of my mouth and it hurts when I swallow. Will my tooth be okay until I get to the dentist and what will be done by the dentist? Do you think my tooth is infected? Will I have to take antibiotics?

I have braces and there is a tiny bit of my gum that is resting on my front tooth! I tried pulling it with twissors but it really hurts. Will it fall off? What should I do? Thanks

Dear Patient, Do not try to pull or remove the extended gum tissue all by yourself because an innocuous looking thing may lead to complication. The gum tissue it appears may be due to irritation of the gum with ortho wire or brace. It wont fall by itself but can easily be removed after using an anaesthetic spray by a Dentist.
