Patient asked followup Question: 12 years ago
the dog is not vaccinated as her vaccine is scheduled for its 12th week
Dr. Puneet Madan answered : 12 years ago
Hi,
The optimum levels of vaccine are achieved at around 7th day of vaccine, which means your optimum levels are reached already.
You don't have to repeat rabies vaccine or tetanus injection(you did not mention it but i believe that must have been given tetanus injection).
- Were you given ARS injection last time ?
If yes then there is no problem and you don't have to repeat that(ars) too but if you were not given ARS last time and this time there is some kind of bleeding then you can take ARS injections,to be safe.
Feel free to ask more questions.

i have taken ARS injection in a private clinic. The first does of Ars and teatanus are given on 26/jan/2013 followed by second does on 29/jan/13 then the third does on 02/feb/12 and next due yhat is the fourth one on 09/feb/13. The name of ARS is vaxirab

Hi,
The injections vaxirab you have taken is not a ARS .It is a vaccine and these are two different thing. Usually ARS is given at the site of dog bite where the dog has bitten you.
if you have had bleeding from the place where dog has bitten you then yo may go for ARS (it is a serum, not vaccine) available at many government hospitals in India.
ARS is a single dose and multiple doses are not needed.
