it can be a sinus related to an infection in the adjoining tooth. immediate medicine schedule and treatment should be given. you should visit a nearby dentist immediately.

hello,
that swelling is the sinus opening on the gums due to the infection most probably spraed by any carious lesion on the respective tooth. plz check any sort of decay or cavity in that tooth. for this you have to visit a dentist for the removal of infection through a treatment known as pulpectomy. for instant relief otherwise you can give him an antibiotic for reduction of swelling and a pain killer for pain if any. feel free to ask further.

hello,
tooth on the right side caries which extended into the apex of tooth, and due to long term infection it had developed swelling and pus or abscess has formed.it is an emergency for the child to get the treatment done,if left like that may lead to cellulitis.
child can be diagnosed with dentoalveolar abscess, and treatment for that will be root canal treatment along with antibiotics and wait untill the swelling subsides and complete filling will be done

It could be because the decay has reached tooth tissue and has caused infection their , the tooth should ideally be root canal and obviously antibiotics should be started at the earliest
