Usually ARS is given at the site of dog bite where the dog has bitten you. if you have had bleeding from the place where dog has bitten you then yo may go for ARS (it is a serum,not vaccine) available at many government hospitals in India. Hi, i'm 26 weeks pregnant and i was bitten of a strail cat yesterday. I was adviced with my ob to have anti rabies injection and she gaved me an antibiotic which is cafalexin(cefalin 500mg) and will take that 3x a day. . I would ask help and advice if it safe to take the antibiotic and if it safe to have the anti rabies coz i am scared and afraid about the affect on my baby's brain and body...please response....

Hi. Please do follow your doctor’s advice. First of all, Cefalexin is safe for pregnancy. Secondly and more importantly, it is very important that you do get your anti-rabies shots. Because if the cat bit you is infected with rabies, and you got infeced as well thru the bite, and you did noret the rabies vaccine, there will be no treatment once symptoms appear.
