I have had mirena since September 2012 I have had a lot of sex with my partner, and he bumped the strings a time or two causing me to spot a little afterwards. Now I am having pregnancy symptoms such as tender breast, feeling bloated, nausea, sensitive to smells and tired. I have had two boys no problems but I am worried I might be pregnant again. Any ideas, I am going to buy a test tomorrow. I'm just concerned I may be as I lost a bit of weight and now it seems to be coming back quick and I really don't want to be. How easy if the IUD gets bumped to become pregnant?

No it is highly unlikely to get pregnant with mirena inside. It has very less failure rate. If partner is bumping on mirena then it must be little out of place which can be repositioned with little push by gynecologist ...

Hello, I've gotten the mirena iud birth control at my 6 week check up after having my son, 2 and a half years ago. I just have been experiencing dark black blood. I'm cycles are irregular I never know when the will come. Usually 4-6 months apart. But when I first got mirena everything was good. But now years later I'm having the dark blood. I made a doctors appointment for this Friday. But I'm just wondering what it could be. I can't find anything online about this expect maybe it could be a pelvic infection or infection of some sort. Please let me know if there's something more I could bring to my doctors attention this Friday. Thank you.

Irregular menses are very common after Mirena. I wont put hormonal IUCD (MIrena) for birth control as it causes lot of menstrual irregularities. Black blood is nothing but a part of irregular periods cuased by Mirena. I would advice u to remove Mirena if u r not happy with it and switch over to CuT. ...

In the pamphlet it specifically mentions that this device should only be put after six weeks. The medication does get excreted in the breast milk but only in very small quantities and is unlikely to cause any serious side effects. The only reason that I can think of is that the medication might cause a decreased milk output which can cause constipation in your baby. ...

Am having uterine myomas and adenomyosis and possible uterine fibroids. Recently treated with mirena iud to prevent the myoma from growing, control the bleeding and as hormonal therapy. The pain is killing me for 2 weeks now. Dependent with voltfast which is not good for the kidney. Now the only option doctor is advicing me is to undergo hysterectomy.
