When the mitral valve is leaky it is called mitral valve regugitation, it means that just after the heart squeezes and pumps blood forward, some blood will leak backward through the valve. Overtime leaky mitral valve causes health problems such as heart failure, pulmonary congestion (this means that water builds up in lungs and causes breathing problems), later leaky mitral valve can cause the fluid to build up in a whole body, for example in legs, hands, liver.... Before above mentioned problems develope, there appear some symptoms such as fainting, fatigue, weakness, low blood pressure, dizziness... So this is very serious condition and needs to be corrected, if it is not repaired on time then you may need more serious surgery which is called mitral valve replacement. Mitral valve repair and replacement are very common surgical procedures worldwide, so don't be afraid of it, a lot people have replaced or repaired mitral valves all over the world. I can't see the document you have mentioned, (please attach it again) and so I can't tell how serious your condition is, seriousness of condition depends on the degree of mitral valve regurgitation. Your cardiologist will tell the severity of your condition based on your symptoms and echocardiography results. As for price, what I could find is the website of CMC hospital and their telephone number, you can call and ask them about prices: **********. http://www.cmch-vellore.edu
