I had a tooth surgically extracted Dec. 20th. It has felt like it has not healed properly. Five days ago I noticed the inside gum (under tongue) back from where the tooth was extracted had exposed bone and is extremely painful. I went back to the dentist today and she said it was not from the extraction, but was a mouth ulcer causing the bone to be exposed. She Rx'ed magic mouthwash and lortab 5mg. I have appt with oral surgeon on Thursday. I am concerned about she didn't give me antibiotics and the surgeon wont give any until consultation. Is this dangerous to have exposed bone? I have lupus and I don't know how this will affect me. Help

My husband age 65 had to have his lower left wisdom tooth removed because there was a cavity on the tooth before the wisdom tooth. The original doctor only removed the tooth November 26, 2012, was given Norco for pain and recommended to take ibuprofen for pain. My husband had pain, and swelling. Original dentist packed the tooth with a special pack. Husband also applied clove oil. He talked to oral surgeons. Went to another surgeon and was given steroids, and antibiotics. My husband had dry socket and the hole was not closing up. So the new surgeon recommended a water pick and brushing the area vigorously to stimulate circulation. THe hole is closing up. Also, a root tip was found and had to be removed which added new pain. My husband is trying to not taking Norco anymore and trying to reduce ibuprofen. But pain level is 1-3 with twinges in jaw. It's been 8 wks. Is that normal? The original wisdom tooth had fused to the bone and had to be sawed in half to be removed. The cavity still hasn't been filled due to other pain.

You have mentioned dry socket, the appropriate treatment for that is use of local antibiotics and systemic analgesics. Kindly get a radiograph done and ask your dentist to irrigate and flush the area before inserting the local medication. ...

About a year ago I had a serious dental problem. I had an apicectomy performed and the surgeon left a lot of leftover amalgam inside my jaw. To cut a long story short my body rejected the amalgam and it started to come out of my jaw in pieces. Before the dentist realised what the problem was he prescribed about 4 courses of antibiotics and this led to a very severe balanitis after the 4th course. It got treated succesfully with cream and fluconazol(150mg). Now It seems to return in a very mild form lasting a couple of days after I treat with cream every couple of months or so. Do I need to visit the doctor again or should I wait until it stops naturally? I had surgery to remove the amalgam from the jaw when they realised that that was causing the inflammation. My jaw is recovering very well.

I think post surgery, Your dentist must have taken the X-Ray to confirm complete removal of amalgum. Balantitis most likely is coincidental need to consult dermatologist for same. ...

after i-lasik surgery , got seen black floaters, i talked to my surgeon, he said there is neither retina tear nor PVD. they will go away. but still i did not det rid off them, i do nt know wht to do , before i lasik, i never seen these floaters , my eyes are perfectly fine. please tell can they go on their own. i strat seeing them after 15 day of my i lasik surgery.

This is not the side effect of i lasik .This floaters are due to myopic degenerative changes in retina . If this persists without any defect in retina then nothing to worry but regular retinal check up for any type of detachment is necessary. ...

Hi doctor, I m dr. Neelam, Dental surgeon. I m pregnant with 10 weeks. and during regular tests of pregnancy found my total T4 was around 158 and TSH was 0.05, so dr asked me to take Free T3 and T4 test.. Free T4 came normal but TSH is still low i.e 0.04.. So please let me know is it serious or should i take any medicine.. But i dont have any symptoms and my weight is 65kg with 164 cms height.

Suffered Retina Detachment in the right eye at the age of 25 years and was operated upon at Shankar Netralaya, Chennai but with little gain of vision. 3. Hi, The medicines you are having are fine and have to be taken for 15 more days and you may feel further better. I might have liked to give some other medicines,but then the doctor might have noticed something on your examination to give you this medicine. You can get tested for hiv for safety sake and your concern. I am experiencing right flank pain upon waking. Pain is localized, sharp, stabbing and has increased in intensity over a 10 day period. Pain is relieved once I am able to stand and move about, but will return any time I am in a supine position. I had a CT today that ruled out kidney stones. I had fracture of the fifth metatarsal in my right foot three months ago. My ortho surgeon advised me to wear an Aircast short boot. I wore it for more than two months. After my 3rd xray showed more callus formation, he allowed me to remove it already and just wear shoes with flat hard sole. The x ray result stated that there is more callus formation. Demineralization of bones is appreciated. What does it mean that demineration is APPRECIATED? Is this positive? Thank you.
