Hi! Yesterday, I went to see my dentist for tooth extraction and currently taking antibiotics and mefenamic acid for 7 days. Next week, on Wednesday, I'm going to undergo blood testing, urinalysis and fecalysis. Question, is it okay to undergo these procedures even though I'm taking medicines? I'm so busy and Wednesday is the only day I'm available. Plus, clinics are closed on Christmas holiday. Please help me. Thanks!

Medicines do alter the routine blood analysis results. But if your dentist has asked for it, then it might have been for some specific reason. just inform the laboratory that you are on antibiotics to prevent any wrong interpretation. Hi, im 36, female, breastfeeding my 8 mos old baby. i have a history of acute pyelonephritis on 2006. Now i think its the same problem suffered from fever, chill, nausea for 3 days... i started to take cotrimoxazole in 3 days but switched to norfloxcin 400 mg but didnt let my baby feed on my breast. I had my urinalysis after 4 days. Result says my wbc/hpf is 8 to 14, mucous thread +, rbc/hpf is 1 - 3, ep cells +, crystals amophous phospates +. My question is what i the interpretation of my result? Should i continue norloxacin 400 mg? How many days 7 or up to 10 days? When can i let my baby breastfeed again? Thank you... --_Anna-

Switching from one antibiotic to another without finishing the course is not a good idea. Norfloxacin 400 should be taken twice daily for 5 days. You can breast feed your baby. But you must get your urine test for culture and sensitivity done immediately. ...

I hope you did not get the urine tested during your periods. If no, you need a Ultrasonography KUB to detect the cause of presence of RBC in your urine. Also urine culture is a must. ...

Hi last thursday i felt back pain on my left side. At first, I thought it was normal back pain because I'm 37 weeks pregnant but when I went on my ob the next day and she said I need to take some lab tests which are urinalysis and blood test. The result of my blood test was all normal but I have an infection that was seen in my urinalysis. My pus cell was 10-15/lpf but my wbc is normal too. She gave me antibiotics but I refuse to take that because I was afraid that it can affects my unborn baby. By now I drink coconut juice and lots of water but til now i suffer from back pain. Please give me any advice because I am so worried. Thank you!

Hi there. I strongly suggest that you follow your doctorâ€™s advice regarding antibiotic. I presume that the antibiotic that your doctor gave you, of corse is safe for pregnant women. You should be worried if your UTI will not be treated. Infection can be transferred to your baby. ...
