Teeth sensitivity can be due to many reasons. Wrong brushing methods can wear out the outer layer of teeth(enamel) near the gums and can lead to sensitivity. Cavities can also cause sensitivity and pain. Fracture in your teeth can also cause. Old age can cause sensitivity since your gum recedes(shrinks) and the root portion is exposed causing sensitivity. Wearing out of enamel due to eating very hard food (bone & dry fruits) and Bruxism (Grinding of teeth ) can also cause sensitivity. Periodontal problems leading to exposure of root can cause sensitivity. Hyper sensitivity is also seen in some cases. Visit your dentist immediately to find the cause of your sensitivity
