My 3 years old daughter has cough and cold for 2 days and fever since morning . She has nasal discharge and seems to breath by mouth. Otherwise she is playful and active. Please advise.

Hi , Thanks for your request. Your daughter has Viral upper respiratory tract infection. Her mouth breathing is due to her nose blockage.Put nasal decongestant drops in both nostrils thrice a day. Also give her steam inhalation twice daily. For cough and cold give her a decongestive medicine with paracetamol. This will take care of fever as well. Keep a watch for danger signs like fast breathing , chest indrawing , inability to drink , lethargy . Go to your nearest child specialist when you see ...

I am a mother of a young child aged 5years who is having a discomfort in one of his teeth and also a noticeable swelling on his gum and a small amount of yellow discharge occasionally from it. He also seems to have a couple of tooth decays. What can be done at this tender age, and what can I expect from the dental treatment.

Hello there, firstly I would like to mention here is that there is no age limit in medical science as far as any of the treatments is concerned. Children like any grown adult need their teeth for the purpose of eating food, talking (speech), muscles support, esthetics & overall growth of the jaw. What I can understand from your query is that your child’s tooth infection has spreaded beyond the tooth structure and is having a periapical /periodontal abscess which has resulted in a swelling ...

Hi! The only blood test that can show whether you are pregnant or the previous abortion was an incomplete one is a serum beta hcg -this checks the hormone for pregnancy in the blood. If less than 5 ,then pregnancy is negative. A normal gynae check up can reveal past pregnancy only if earlier pregnancy led to an incomplete abortion which can be made out by an ultrasonogram of the pelvis or the serum beta hcg.Otherwise no doctor can make out whether you were pregnant in the past and have taken abor ...

Hello Doc, My periods delayed by 7 days, so i took a pregnancy test using the kit available in the market. It showed C and T lines to be pink confirming pregnancy. But as I was not in a shape to have a baby, I took two pills of regulin forte to abort it. After three days, I had heavy vaginal discharge for half an hour and then it stopped completely. Now after 7 days I undertook the same test again, this time C was dark pink and T was pale pink.. what should I do now. kindly advice.

Hi!! The pregnancy test can remain positive for uptil 2 weeks after an abortion. To rule out if pregnancy is completely aborted or not,so please get a serum beta hcg test done. This is a blood test that that checks the same hormone of pregnancy in the blood that the urine test checks. A beta hcg test is done in all laboratories and the results are usually available after few hours. The beta hcg test in serum( blood) if more than 5 indicates pregnancy,so maybe your pregnancy is not completely abor ...

I recently had a period that started very light and evened out to a normal flow by the end but i experienced no usually period cramps, headaches, pain and what not. Then 2 days after my period ended i started experiencing a light pinkish discharge. Its normal in consistency compared to my usually ovulation discharge but the color is something I've never seen before. I am sexually active. Is this normal? or should be alarmed?

Hi there. It won’t harm if you will go to the nearest gynecologist so that he or she may conduct a pelvic exam. Pinkish discharge may mean a lot of things. It can be normal like ovulation, or can be an anatomic problem like polyp. But I think it is perfectly ok that you did not get cramps or any premenstrual symptoms. ...

Hi, If you still have pain and pus discharge around that area then , either the infection is there again because it was not cleared properly( the pus drainage was not done properly ) or either it might have formed again because you might be having some co exsistent problem which probably went un diagnosed . Are you a diabetic ? Any other problem you might be having or any disease treatment you might have taken for pretty long in past ? Treatment givento you otherwise medically was fine no pro ...

hi bobby, your perianal abscess surgery would take atleast 2-3 weeks to heal and slowly the soreness and pain will come down day by day as the wound heals. regular dressings especially after motions is the key to successful healing. The very fact that your pus c/s report mentions E.coli, I just want to make you aware that these bacteria are from the large intestine. The basic question is from where did the bacteria get into the perianal area?? the answer is that there is a small hole in the anus ...
