My gums have been bleeding on my lower front four teeth for the past couple of days. Now I have started using listerine, it seemed to be working but now I have white soft scabs appearing where the gums were bleeding. I thought it was bacteria but every time I clean them off the gums it starts bleeding again. Any advice on what I should do?

I have braces and there is a tiny bit of my gum that is resting on my front tooth! I tried pulling it with twissors but it really hurts. Will it fall off? What should I do? Thanks

Dear Patient, Do not try to pull or remove the extended gum tissue all by yourself because an innocuous looking thing may lead to complication. The gum tissue it appears may be due to irritation of the gum with ortho wire or brace. It wont fall by itself but can easily be removed after using an anaesthetic spray by a Dentist. Hello, I have had a nail fungus for a good ten years or so. When I first noticed it, I went to my doctor and he game me lamasil which I stopped taking after a few days since it had negative affects on me. Thereafter, I stopped taking care of it and just let it go for a good 7 or 8 years. I eventually grew up and started getting very self conscious of how it looked and wanted to wear sandals and flip flops and not have people think nasty things about me. A few years ago I went to my doctor again and he gave me a topical oil which I used for over a year and did not see any results. About two years ago, I noticed that a vertical brown line was starting to grow from the bottom up. I went to a dermatologist who took a sample of my nail but did not take a sample of the nail bed or from the cuticle. Biopsy came back as of course it being a fungus. He in turn gave me pills to take which I also had to stop taking since it was having a bad affect on my liver. After that, my dermatologist said that he would give me laser treatments which I did two of. They did not clear it but it looks a little bit better then what it was before. Still thick, yellow, crumbling below the nail, nail bed where new nail is growing is darker then the others and the brown line is still there. It is a thick brown line. How did I get this brown line? Did I get it because of the prolonged damage of the nail bed due to the years of having the nail fungus?

You're most welcome. Nail Melanoma does not affect multiple nails together while Longitudunal Melanonychia (LM) often does. The fact that an additional nail is showing changes is nearly conclusive that this is LM, which as I said is harmless. However it would be best to see your doctor to get this confirmed since I cannot see the affected area. My dentist advised me to have rct for 2 front teeth out of which one is a dead tooth because of trauma. Now, i need to travel in couple of days and shall be away for couple of months. So the dentist suggested that she can fill the cavity with cotton and do the final treatment once i am back. What would you advise?

i would not agree with leaving the treatment incomplete. this may lead to infection that could be worse than what you have. your tooth will be weakened due to the access cavity and liable to fracture. either wait till you get back and DO NOT TOUCH the tooth at all (if you have no trouble now) or FINISH the treatment and leave. make sure you are carrying medication in either case. ...

the increasing gap between the teeth may due to the weak periodontal structure (gum and bone supporting the teeth). this is caused due to formation of plaque and tar tar around the teeth which slowly destroys the supporting structures. the process is very slow and you may not have any signs and symptoms of the damage till its very late. 42 yo female. I have an approx. pencil eraser sized lumped on my right tonsil that is flesh colored and in which I can see the veins in. There is a spot of white on the front of the lump I'm thinking could be bacteria. My concern with the lump is that it appears more as a hemroid would, a lump pushed through the skin wall, not as a lump sitting on the skin wall. I have used a q-tip to investigate the lump with no change. It is near the top of the side of my throat above the tonsil where the throat is starting to curve up. It is smooth all around this spot with only this lump coming down from the wall of my throat there, and the flesh color and veins match that of the smooth skin surrounding it.
