I am a 46 year old man and over the last few years have been seeing the appearance of numerous red spots on my body. The spots are small and slightly raised and do not itch or hurt. What could these be? Is there any way I can treat them?

Hello Doctor this is Emmanuel Nice to hear from you, actually my skin is not extremely very dark but compared to a 'White skin' it is, I'm not very pinkish, but I'm fairer than the other dark people. If I come under bright lights I look fair I don't know what medicine changed my skin colour as I'm not good at medicine. My toes, feet, neck, Hands and other private parts like me penis are also dark, I've tried the Vitamin C Calamine lotion Multani mitti allovera face wash drank water used sunscreens accordingly these only work to certain extent and I feel these are meant for people who are looking to improve their complexion and not to restore the original skin colour. I actually look like a South Asain. It took some time may be about a month my complexion became dark. I don't have any other symptoms except for skin darkening and don't have any dark spots either Please advice me with the best medicine. Thanks & Regards Emmanuel

Hi Emmanuel, Thank you for the photographs. The areas you mention - hands, feet, penis and scrotum are naturally darker than the rest of the body. The reasons for this are different. The penis and scrotum are darker because they have a very rich blood supply and this makes the skin darker. No treatment is required or indeed effective here. I had a colonoscopy done and they found "red spots" on the descending colon. They are doing a biopsy. I have yet to hear back and this was a week ago. Everything else with my endoscopy and colonoscopy was normal. Any insight what these spots could be from?

Hai Doctor, I have taken Salicylic peel 6 sections , for acne after that Dr prescribed Hyclean TF cream for dark spots , 3 times in a week. After 2 weeks i felt my skin is getting dark. Is it because of this cream?. After the peel my skin colour were improved.

Hi Archana, No the cream does not cause skin darkening. Your skin probably requires maintenance peels for continued benefit along with strict sun protection. To this end I would recommend taking a skin lightening peel like SM peel or Glycolic Peel once a month for 6 months along with an SPF 50+, UVA +++ or higher sunscreen (e.g Melagard SPF 50, Rivela SPF 50) used 2-3 times a day. Sir, I have dark spots on my face, mostly acne/pimple marks. I have tried cadilla skin shine. Now I am thinking about proactiv and kumkumadi. I am looking for a solution which provides me fairer, spot free skin along with some long term solution to acne/pimple.
