Hello, I have had a nail fungus for a good ten years or so. When I first noticed it, I went to my doctor and he game me lamasil which I stopped taking after a few days since it had negative affects on me. Thereafter, I stopped taking care of it and just let it go for a good 7 or 8 years. I eventually grew up and started getting very self conscious of how it looked and wanted to wear sandals and flip flops and not have people think nasty things about me. A few years ago I went to my doctor again and he gave me a topical oil which I used for over a year and did not see any results. About two years ago, I noticed that a vertical brown line was starting to grow from the bottom up. I went to a dermatologist who took a sample of my nail but did not take a sample of the nail bed or from the cuticle. Biopsy came back as of course it being a fungus. He in turn gave me pills to take which I also had to stop taking since it was having a bad affect on my liver. After that, my dermatologist said that he would give me laser treatments which I did two of. They did not clear it but it looks a little bit better then what it was before. Still thick, yellow, crumbling below the nail, nail bed where new nail is growing is darker then the others and the brown line is still there. It is a thick brown line. How did I get this brown line? Did I get it because of the prolonged damage of the nail bed due to the years of having the nail fungus?

You're most welcome. Nail Melanoma does not affect multiple nails together while Longitudunal Melanonychia (LM) often does. The fact that an additional nail is showing changes is nearly conclusive that this is LM, which as I said is harmless. However it would be best to see your doctor to get this confirmed since I cannot see the affected area. I would recommend getting the entire nail removed if its the only one affected by fungus, but this will be solely to treat the fungus not because I thin ...

Sorry looks like the answer did not post in its entirety. Continuing where it leaves off: Tab Ivermectin (Stromectol) 12 mg (if body wt>60 kgs), 9 mg (if body wt<60 kgs) - taken once now and once 7 days later (take on empty stomach). This is not essential but increases cure rates. Your doctor would need to prescribe it for you. All the people living with you must also be treated with permethrin as advised above even if they are asymptomatic, as usually everyone in the family is affected bu ...

For a few months now, I am having difficulty during intercourse. Reason being which, the foreskin of my penis is not peeling back during unprotected sex. The tip of the fore skin is getting cut. A few months back, I remember my wife having the same issue in her privates which disappeared by itself. I have tried the "Candid" cream & used coconut oil. Still same issue. Can u help by prescribing some medication to get rid of this??

Hi, You can use betamethasone cream (topical steroid) local application cream over your skin surface and towards inner surface of penis of narrow part of foreskin for 4-6 weeks, then secondly stretching of the foreskin can be accomplished manually, with balloons or with other tools.A permanent increase in size occurs by gentle stretching over a period of time. If these steps don't work then usually cirumcision(surgical treatment is the treatment of choice). But first use the medical line of trea ...

can My butt get bigger by rubbing olive oil on it? And how long?

Hi Arellano Estephany, I dont think rubbing any oils is going to make your butt bigger. Genetics play a major role in the butt size and shape and of course weight. Surgical options like a Brazilian Butt lift ( fat grafting) to the butt or buttock implants can help get you the shape you want. Also some butt or gluteal exercises can help make them more firm and round. Thank you for your query Dr.Surindher ...

Hi Simran, Treatment options would depend on whether you have menstrual problems or not. If there is menstrual irregularity then an underlying hormonal problem called PCOD may be present and the acne improves as soon as this is treated. If the menstrual cycle is fine then a trigger needs to be looked for as to why you have suddenly started having pimples now. Common triggers are pollution, make-up use, dietary factors, incorrect facials among other things. You need to see a Dermatologist in per ...

Can kerosene fumes cause eyelid allergies? If so, how does one treat it? I need the kerosene for the furnace--it's an outside tank and the oil freezes when reallly cold.

allergies can be caused by any substance in this world. It depends upon sensitivity of your body towards that particular substance. And yes kerosene gives allergy. The only solution is to avoid the allergen. If exposure to kerosene is unavoidable then take care to minimize it's exposure to the affected part. if then too it occurs then anti allergic ointments and tablets are needed with wash of affected area with plenty of water and apply anti-allergic ointment to skin ...
