I am 23 weeks pregnant. I have been taking Deriphyllin Retard 150 twice a day morning and at night. My doctor has prescribed to take it for 15 days. M worried if affects my baby. Please advice.

  Doctor's Answer

Hello, The medications ( Deriphyllin & Foracort 200) you are taking are either generally accepted as safe during pregnancy or their safety during pregnancy has not been established. Whenever medications are prescribed during pregnancy, patients and their doctors have to decide whether the benefits of the drugs outweigh the potential risks. A few years back after having visited a hill station in India.. i got this sort of coating on my upper lip that couldn't be scraped off easily, a lot of my friends did too.. but even now my problem persists, this was followed by dryness around my lip and white patches that were spreading and cuts started forming. on consulting several dermatologists, they prescribed Fluticasone Propionate ointments of varying concentration saying that its caused by the fact that I was born by extremely dry skin and the saliva dries the area more, but I've been using petroleum jelly on my lips since I was small as I always used to get chapped lips.. I similar sort of dry patch developed on my finger which went on to spread over the years to my entire finger, for which i use the the same medication.. the itching on the finger and the dryness goes away after a couple of days of use but then it comes back when not used and the texture of my finger has turned out to be slightly glossy looking compared to the rest of my fingers..

  Doctor's Answer

Hi, As you said that you don't have leucoderma, and it is just simply dried lips then primary cause for dried lips is allergy. Try out following methods 1) Use oil based prepartion, use petroleum gel 2) Cover your lips with something when going out 3) Avoid licking your lips 4) Drink a lot of water 5) Try and breathe through your nose 6) Avoid allergens,if you know about them(dust, skin care cosmetics)common allergens 7) You may try ayurvedic treatment also,i have seen some people benefit out of ...

My wife had a HSG Test done w/ x-rays 4 days ago. Last night she was complaining about a sharp pain in the lower left quadrant of her lower abdomen. She said it was very painful and was not going away or becoming less intense. By the time for today came, she was complaining about the pain, it being 5/5 at times. She described this pain as a sharp stabbing constant pain. However, now the pain is radiating around the lower left of her abdomen to her lower left back. The area is very tender and the pain spikes even when slightly pushed on in both the areas, abdomen and lower back. Is this a common side-effect of having the HSG Test? Especially if both of her tubes are blocked and she has been diagnosed with Endometriosis. Please help me figure this out so I know whether or not she needs to be seen at a hospital.

  Doctor's Answer

Hi, By telling that she also has fever, one thing is confirmed that she has an infection. Now if she has problem in her micturition too then either the infection is in her urinary tract or the pelvis which will have to be seen first and then an antibiotic can be started. So you have to consult your doctor now. Feel free to ask further question. ...

  Doctor's Answer

Hi!! The pain after getting an HSG test done, will not come after 4-5 days as you have described, rather this pain is probably due to other causes. Pain due to endometriosis is present more just before the onset of menses and during menses. Kindly review with your nearest hospital about the cause of the pain which may be due to renal colic ,ureteric colic, etc ...
